Radiological Analysis of Ophthalmic Ultrasonography

Abstract
The author performed ophthalmic ultrasonoraphy on IC4 Patients, frcm June I582 to January 1583, at the department of radiology, Pusan National University Hospital. The ultrasonographic findings of eyes are reviewed and analyzed.
The following results were observed.
1) The 3rd to 5th decade age groups were most prevalent(71%) and the ratio of male to female was 3.5:1.
2) Ultrasonographically, in total 108 eyes(in 104cases), 43 eyes(39. 8%) had normal finding, 61 eyes (56.5%) had ocular abnormalities and 4 eyes(3.7%) had orbital abnormalities.
3) Ultrasonographic findings of 61 eyes, which had ocular abnormalities, were echogenic vitreous in 44 eyes(72.1%), detached posterior wall in 10 eyes(16. 4%), debris in vitreous in 3 eyes(4. 9%), foreign body in 3 eyes(4.9%), and intraocular solid mass in 1 eyes(1.7 0).
4) Ophthalmic ultrasonography using B-mode scanner was easy and safe diagnostic method, and was especially valuable in cases of cataract and vitreous opacity for evaluation of associated lesion.
